MLB Opening Day – Remembering Our Dinner on the Diamond
It’s Baseball Season!
Although there were a few games the other day, here in the Northeast – today is opening day. The Red Sox and Yankees are currently playing and we’re still shoveling snow off our Cookery steps.
We needed to feel the warmth that baseball season sends to the hearts of fans. So, thanks to the amazing artistry of Robert Norman Photography, we are revisiting our baseball themed pop-up dinner.
In July of 2015 we shared an amazing meal ON the field at Dodd Stadium – home to the Connecticut Tigers professional baseball team.
As guests arrived in the stadium concourse, they were greeted with a signature “Orange Crush” cocktail.
Down to the field where cocktail hour was on the basepaths and the bar at second base. Guests names were flashing on the jumbo tron!
Our friends at Jonathan Edwards serve up perfect wine for a summer day at the ballpark!
Passed hors d’oeuvres included a gator “tot” with creole sauce! Ode to the old Norwich Gators.
CT Tiger greeted all our guests, but took a liking to our beloved owner!

Our friends from Photobooth Planet brought their VW Bus photo booth – so much fun!
The tables were around home plate and our events team incorporated the Tigers colors into the theme.
First Course – this amazing Charcuterie Plate with house-made meats, cheese curds, pickles and so much more. Our team even made the baseball bat style wood planks.
Second course: Chilled Corn Soup with Chardonnay and Tarragon Poached Lobster Stuffed Squash Blossoms. AMAZING!!
Where were the chefs cooking all this? In the dugouts, of course!
Intermezzo: Orange, Chamomile, Rose and Nutmeg Push Pop with Pop Rocks – intense!
Entree: Angelica and Coriander Crusted Roast Pork Tenderloin, Green Beans and Swiss Chard with Ancient Grain and Couscous Terrine with Blueberry Sauce
How often do you get to eat a masterful meal ON a baseball diamond?
Dessert: a GRAND SLAM! “Fried Dough” with Beltane Farms Goat Cheese Cream and Local Strawberry Rhubard Conserve, Chocolate and Crushed Pretzel Cookie filled with Stout Ice Cream, Lime Bavarian Mousse with Quinoa Crisp and Fresh Blueberry and Lemon Balm Frosted Shortbread Cookie! MMMMMM
What would a baseball stadium visit be without a box of Cracker Jacks to take home?
