In the New England wedding industry, it’s no secret that summer is our busy season. We are creating memories every weekend from May to October and are constantly on the go. Winter is when we take time to relax, refresh, and regroup! (I think it’s safe to say we have things we love and hate about both summer and winter)

Here at A Thyme To Cook we’ve been spending our winter revising our menu ideas, exploring new wedding trends, and chatting with our future brides about their hopes and dreams for their big days this year!

Now that spring is in the air  (Can you believe it’s March? I still can’t believe it myself!) we get to experience that wonderful feeling of waking up to 55 degree weather, walking outside to see the little green bulbs peeping out of the ground, and hearing the birds sing good morning.

This Sunday was no exception as everyone who made it to the Wadsworth Wedding Show got to experience a beautiful sunny drive to the Middletown mansion.

Last month a few of us attended a great networking event hosted by the Rhode Island Wedding Group at the Providence G, right in the middle of a revitalized downtown Providence.

We were in awe of the grand ballroom/event space. A former Gas Company lobby (built in 1920s), the space, with huge windows and grand columns, is ideal for transforming into the celebration of your dreams. The Providence G website states it perfectly: “4,800 square feet of blank canvas to completely customize and design the look and feel of your event. From weddings, to socials, to birthday soirées…”.

We returned the following week and met with the uber-talented Kristen who serves as the Event Specialist at the Providence G. Kristen guided us on a spectacular tour and filled us in on all the details of the historic building. The space is custom-made for an unforgettable event – a caterers kitchen, beautiful restrooms, a grand lobby, and even valet parking for all guests!

A former airport hangar, this building is unique and sought after for weddings and special events!

The combination of contemporary design with rustic surroundings makes it a one-of-a-kind venue for any special occasion or just stopping by for a glass of their great wine.

As many brides will attest to (including our founder’s daughter!) the lovely bridal suite, on the second floor, provides a vantage point to view arriving guests, and a spacious, comfortable spot for the bride to get ready for the big day.

aSaltwater5

Large glass doors lead from the awe-inspiring main room onto a lovely stone terrace that overlooks the grapevines and saltwater marshes. If you put your ear up to the gingerbread house and listen closely, you can almost hear Long Island Sound in the distance. 😉
